The use of bamboo in agriculture was studied

The staff of the Sustainable Rural Development Project got acquainted with the work carried out in the Samutsakhon province of Thailand within the framework of the Increasing resilience to climate change impacts in marine and coastal areas along the Gulf of Thailand Project.

At the initiative of the local population and the government, the method of planting bamboo trees in the coastal area was used in order to increase the adaptability to climate change and to limit the illegal appropriation of seawater. Through this, a decrease in water power is achieved during various natural disasters such as sea wave intensification.

This 3 km long bamboo protective barrier is renewed annually by the initiators and residents.
