Current analysis of projects in the direction of development of rural areas

With the participation of funds from the Islamic Development Bank and the OPEC Fund for International Development, and with the support of project partner UNDP, the project “Sustainable Rural Development” is being implemented at a total cost of $338 million.

The project implementing period consists of 2021-2025 years, and to date, within the framework of the project, team mobilization works in 113 mahallas have been completed and a targeted list of projects has been formed which includes a total of 585 subprojects.

In particular, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Bukhara, Navoiy, and Khorezm regions it is planned:

- Construction of 76 schools, 62 pre-schools, 31 family polyclinics, paving of 112 highways and internal roads;

- Improvement of 78 drinking water systems, 94 electric power systems, and 85 pedestrian zones, as well as the installation of nighttime street lighting and the construction of 18 bridges;

- 26 irrigation network improvements, 2 sewer systems, and 1 employment and vocational training center will be established.

Over the past period of 2023, team mobilization activities have been completed in 57 mahallas and primary and major subprojects are being completed.

In May of this year, the responsible employees of the “Sustainable Rural Development” project, together with the project assistant partner UNDP, held several discussions with the representatives of construction, pre-school and school education, health care, automobile roads, irrigation, regional power networks, drinking water supply and related districts of the population selected sub-projects.

During these meetings, the current state of and prospects for enhancing bilateral partnership on the sub-projects were discussed.
