Opening of a new mahalla service center in Shofirkon District

In accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 18, 2021, “On Measures to Implement the Sustainable Rural Development Project with the participation of the Islamic Development Bank and the OPEC Fund for International Development”, extensive construction and improvement works are being carried out throughout the country.

Within the framework of this Resolution, numerous social infrastructure facilities and projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the population – including initiatives to address daily needs and expand access to trade, household, and other essential services – are being implemented across mahallas and rural settlements.

As part of these efforts, a modern three-storey Mahalla Service Center has been constructed and commissioned in the “Mirzoqul” Mahalla Citizens’ Assembly of Shofirkon District, Bukhara Region. Built on a 0.2-hectare land plot, the facility is designed to serve over 15,000 residents and has become a comprehensive hub for providing social, household, and administrative services.

The basement level of the building includes specialized rooms for sorting and packaging fruits and vegetables, as well as auxiliary facilities. The first floor accommodates barbershops and beauty salons for men and women, a pharmacy, offices for bank representatives, and premises for the mahalla administration, including the chairperson, the district khokim’s assistant, the women’s affairs officer, the youth leader, and the preventive inspector. A State Services Center, a confectionery workshop, and a modern retail store are also located on this level.

The second floor is dedicated to educational and vocational activities, including a career guidance center, a dry-cleaning service, and a modern fitness hall. On the third floor, a sewing workshop, a household appliances repair shop, and a youth center have been established, contributing to increased employment opportunities, in particular for young people.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by district leadership, respected elders, and representatives of the local community. In their remarks, speakers emphasized the importance of the project, its contribution to community life, and the new jobs created as a result. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, participants toured the newly commissioned facility and reviewed the conditions established in line with modern standards.
